Patients with ME/CFS may look “fine” in your consult, but what happens after they leave?

How do you document functional capacity in ME/CFS when it fluctuates and may not be immediately obvious?

Health professionals are invited to join senior Occupational Therapist Mealie Weeks in this webinar exploring how ME/CFS and post‑exertional malaise (PEM) impact functional capacity, and why patients may appear “well” in clinic while experiencing fluctuating capacity and invisible disability.

Participants will gain practical skills to assess and document functional capacity in ways that support access to NDIS, DSP, and other services, even when resources are limited, and learn which assessment tools best capture functional impact in ME/CFS.

  • Describe the core features of ME/CFS, including post‑exertional malaise (PEM), severity levels, and their functional consequences
  • Assess and document functional capacity in a way that supports access to services and income support
  • Adapt modes of communication to support patients experiencing cognitive dysfunction

The session will examine the role of GPs, OTs, and other allied health professionals in identifying, documenting, and recommending supports for reduced function in ME/CFS.

RACGP members, live sessions we will record your CPD for you.
